Intermediate School Eastern League 2020

For the first time in 2020, Marist Water Polo Club will be running the Intermediate School Eastern League at Sacred Heart College. We are thrilled to have Delfina on board as a sponsor of our league, with special caps and shirts. It’s going to be an exciting year!
We will use the league to assist young referees to get graded, and young coaches to get feedback if they wish – the aim is to develop the next generation of players, coaches and referees!
The league will be played in Term 2 on Fridays from 4.45pm, finishing by 9pm, and Sundays from 3.30pm, finishing no later than 9pm, with slightly shorter times in Term 3. We will endeavour to have games finish as early as possible, but with pool space at a premium in Auckland, and wanting to give every team the opportunity to play, we’ll have to have the odd late game. There will be no play on weekends of Winterfest and Tim Sonderer, and limited games during AIMS.
The league will start off with two grading rounds on 1 and 3 May 2020 (first weekend of Term 2), where we hope to enable all teams to play at least 2 games during the grading weekend before competition games commence on 8 May, with about 12 weeks of games through Terms 2 and 3.
We have tried hard to keep the cost to a reasonable level, but with increased pressure on pool space and associated increased pool costs, charges per team will be $1,200 including GST. All grades will play in a full pool.
The competition is for Year 7 and 8 players only unless there are exceptional circumstances.
We will provide caps and balls for the competition, and each team has the option to purchase their own competition shirts (on pre-order only - information to follow).
Registrations are open until 5 April 2020.
